Winter Storm Season Begins

A blustery storm hit Cannon Beach in the night and we delayed leaving and went storm watching instead. We had found beach access to Haystack Rock and the Needles yesterday and we slowly walked down the sheltered narrow pathway enjoying the view of the stormy sea ahead. A wall of wind and sea spray hit us as we emerged onto the beach and minutes later the darker cloud Bill had noticed was suddenly overhead. We made a 15-step dash back up the stairs to the truck and by the time we got there, we were soaked by a deluge of rain. Coffee in a sea-side restaurant suddenly seemed like the best idea.
