Well that was a good day!

We are sure noticing a difference in internet access along the US coast compared to the Yukon! Not surprising I guess. We have fast service with no issues. Easy to post blog entries!
We spent the day in Cannon Beach - overcast but no rain until the very end of the day so we could enjoy being outside walking on the beach, taking loads of pictures of this dramatic coastline and hiking in a heavenly temperate rainforest.
The town of Cannon Beach is almost deserted - many of the shops closed - but the bakery was open so we bought lunch and headed out.
The haystack was our first stop. You can't see it until you do and believe me, a sharp intake of breath is the sensible response. This behemoth is 235 feet high rising straight out of the beach. We visited first in the morning when the tide was coming back in and then returned at 4:30 pm to catch low tide before the sun went down. The rain started in earnest as we headed back to shore.
