Lewis and Clark arrive in tsunami territory

We arrived in Cannon Beach at supper time and are probably now going to stay put for a couple of nights. Nice thought that we don't have to pack up in the morning. Today we travelled down the coast trying to find Lewis and Clark. Signs assured us of success but it turns out everybody leaves in November. There are spots where you can stop to imagine the excitement of the expedition reaching the Pacific Ocean as well as get some idea of the hardships endured. The worst part of their 4000 mile trip according to Clark was the last five days pinned against the shoreline at Dismal Nitch as they waited out a storm. And we complained when we arrived last night and had to set up in the rain!
One thing we are glad of, so far, no tsunami - signs are everywhere along the coast with arrows either to highways out of the area or, if that isn't going to work, up a hill!
